2008 Beacon Hill Equestrian Grand Prix
Hunter/Jumper
Event Details
Date start: 2008-06-19
Date end: 2008-06-23
The 2008 Beacon Hill Equestrian Grand Prix presented by Mackenzie Keck, Inc. is a unique event showcasing top show jumping riders in a beautiful country estate setting. This years show will take place Thursday, June 19 through Sunday, June 22 at the Beacon Hill Farm in Colts Neck, NJ. Spectators can sit along side the Grand Prix Field and relax for the day as riders and their gleaming mounts attempt to scale the rails and planks.
The most notable change to this years show is the additional day on the schedule dedicated to junior equitation riders. Thursdays classes will begin at noon in the sand ring and judge Bill Ellis of Colts Neck, NJ, will evaluate the riders ability and style. The equitation division is the breeding ground for the next generation of jumper riders. Many of the talented equestrians competing on Thursday will be piloting a jumper on the grass in upcoming years or may be competing in Saturdays featured class the New Jersey Life Magazine Junior-Amateur Owner Jumper Classic.
All of the classes held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will take place on the Grand Prix Field. Classes begin each day at 8am and will run throughout the day. The main event at the Beacon Hill Equestrian Grand Prix is the $50,000 Budweiser Grand Prix presented by Wachovia. The countrys best show jumping riders, including past Olympians and many who have ridden for the USA in the World Equestrian Games will vie for the blue ribbon and prize money.
In addition to watching the spectacular equine athletes, children visiting the show on Saturday and Sunday will enjoy a petting zoo and carnival games with prizes. Parents will enjoy the wide variety of boutiques that make up the vendor village. Tickets are $5 a person at the gate. Be sure to get there early on the weekend in order to get a good seat for the main events.
Proceeds from this years show benefit the Gleneayre Equestrian Program, a
nonprofit program for families and children at risk. Gleneayre provides children with an opportunity for growth, selfdiscovery, and responsibility through nurturing and caring for horses.
