I believe there are a few older, slaughter-bound geldings in the kill pen at Camelot Auction (Cranbury, NJ) right now. They are thin but supposedly very personable. You may want to check the Alex Brown Forum -- http://forums.delphiforums.com/alexbrown/messages/?msg=27368.1 -- they are talking about them. I rescued a thin horse from the feedlot a few months ago and he is the kindest and gentlest animal ever, anyone can ride him. It's worth a shot. Maybe you can take your trainer with you and possibly save a life. Frank, the auction owner, will probably sell them for under $300.
