| Good Luck on your search, remember it takes 6 months to a year before a horse to get to know you. I have a horse that is bombproof, beginner horse, cross ties, does everything you are lookig for. The first 6 mths that horse would run off with me on his back and would not listen. He would do things that he never did before He also is a 18 hand belgian draft horse stopping him is not easy when they don't want to stop. Today after owning him to close to 2 years that boy takes care of me riding. He protects me when I am riding him on the trails. If feels anything that is wrong he will stop to make sure Mom is okay. The light bulb when off after 6 mths of owning him. During this time I had TWH who decided he wanted to bond with me as well. I have known the TWH for 2 years and he totally trust me and I him. The trust issue started about a year ago with the TWH and he was 3 years old. I had not done anything with this TWH as far as care or feeding it just happened. I wind up buying him for my niece and he starting to work under saddle now. He lets her ride him even though she is fairly green as well. I never did anything with this TWH he just suddenly fell in love with me and my niece. So trust is something you have to earn with a horse it does not come with them. I was always told that it takes 6 mths to a year before a horse knows you and trust you....I believe it. |
