| What rescue operation is breeding horses. I am in the process of securing my third rescue of Standardbreds and I thought that the most important requirement was that NO breeding was allowed. I just had my newest baby gelded and gladly so. I agree that there are far too many super horses in need of a home, a pedigree does not a good horse make. I would hate to think that I am involved with any rescue that allows it, that's the whole point of supporting rescue organizations. My first rescue since moving to Jersey turned out to be a famous Yonkers pacer by the name of DynaMike, considered the warhorse of Yonkers, he had an article featured in Hoofbeats Magazine, I didn't know any of it at the time, and he is a wonderful, wonderful mount. As I got older, I realized that its not a paper that makes a horse, it's his or her human and their bond. Some of the greatest horses of all time were throwaways that got lucky and found a faithful owner who believed. My own horse was taken from the kill truck/auction, not once but twice, in his career and raced up until the age of ineligibility after a harrowing life. I'm ever grateful that he found me, he's been a dream. Happy Trails............. |
