I grab the horn to up and it is a sense of security to me. You have nothing in the front and posting is different and that is where you need balance. It really not bad at all but the first time I sat in an english saddle I holler for the saddle. The good thing about an English saddle when my snot wants to go under trees that has only enough clearance for his big head you don't have that horn in you from ducking. I do have control over him it just he is the biggest tease of a horse you ever want to meet at times when we are out having fun he just makes sure I have my money worth. I use the same size saddle for both. Talking about muscle control I never knew there were some muscles I was not using while riding. Your best bet is to try it yourself. See if you can borrower someone saddle that will fit your horse. Good Luck with it. I really been having a blast doing it and plus I never thought I would.
