RodeoMike........I am not "associated" with either of the sites and have no personal interest in either, other than the fact that I want a site to utilize for info on horses. I have found this site to be extremely lax in monitoring. They will let people fight like children for days on end. Granted the "adults" on this board should know better, but as the moderator for the board, whoever that is should be "monitoring" it and keeping it nice for the rest of us. You want suggestions, here they are. Please pass them along to your friend:
1. The site is a pain to follow posts......you can't see when something new has been posted and have to click over to another page in order to do that. Being able to log in and see "new posts" highlighted in some way would be a plus.
2. Moderate!!!! Moderate!!! Do not let the idiots out there turn this board into a bash party for their own pleasure. If you notice the posts with the most hits are those that are attacking someone. The posts with true horse info........some are never even replied to. People know they can come here to be vicious behind a screen name and attack others......I don't think that is what your friend intended when doing this site.
3. If your going to make rules for the site........make sure they are followed for all......not just some. If there is no advertising on the "let's talk" than the moderator should be here to delete those posts and advise the originator that they must post in the classifieds or directory.
These are just off the top of my head and I'm sure others could chime in here with more ideas. I don't think anyone would mind having more than one site to get GOOD, QUALITY info in regard to our horses. I will be honest and tell you that I only come to this board once every week or so and I am a daily member of the nj-horse board. I have met people from that board and gotten help, support and assistance when I need it from them in regards to my horses and other things. I would have never found the barn that I board at or many friends that I have made without the NJ-Horse board. Myself......I have enough drama in my life (10 kids (4 of them girls!! LOL, 7 grandchildren, 10 dogs and 4 horses and)so I don't need to come to a horse forum that has even more drama. I come to the forums for info, help, advice and even a feeling of commaraderie with others that have the same interests. That is just my take on it and I am honestly not trying to be nasty in any way here, but give you feedback to pass along as you requested. I hope things here change, but in the meantime I'll be over at NJ-horse.com. Best of luck to you and your friend and more importantly enjoy your horses!!!! |
