| OK, so as a jersey shore boy, I never once thought of having the opportunity to work with, or even ride, horses. But, with a bizarre twist of luck, I landed a job at Medieval Times in Lyndhurst as an MC/Chancellor, and, under the instruction of some of the best instructors I could ever ask for (one guy in particular is an original knight from Spain!) I've grown into a fairly decent rider. Of course, I still have much to learn, but I am more than willing. I never knew that deep down I could have such a passion for these incredible animals and, I'm sure many of our guests could easily overlook my horsemanship since I'm not one of the knights, but I take it very seriously. I've developed such an awesome bond with the horse I ride (a beautiful Friesian) that I can get him to do pretty much anything I ask him, and he gives me no trouble at all. In the beginning he knew that I was the new guy, so he gave me some hazing, in his own horse way :) But now I couldn't be happier, and can't wait to gain more experience with these great creatures! Cheers from Oceanport, and Medieval Times! See you in the realm! |
