I'd say your brain wins at this time. Your girls are a bit too young to be of help and would still require lots of attention. Having horses on your own place is a lot of work, and ties you down as a family (can't leave for overnights without RELIABLE help). The freezing water in the wintertime, repairing fences (horses' hobby is to destroy them), mucking stalls, manure removal, buying good hay and feed; all time gobblers, and you want the liberty to enjoy horses while enjoying the youth of your girls. If you're leasing a horse, be happy and enjoy it. Let someone else do the work. If the girls want lessons, that can be done too, without too much commitment. Kids grow up fast, and if they are still interested in 8-10 years, then would be a good time to get the family involved in such a big undertaking; the family farm. For now, it would be my recommendation to just enjoy the blessings you have.
