Town Council
Posted by: hawkhillequestrian Date posted: 03/20/2008 10:31:14 PM
Go to your local town meetings and when you can't try to keep up from the towns web site by reading the minutes. Many towns have Environmental or Parks and Recreation departments, run for an open position. Often these "committees" are volunteer.

Good to get involved, IMHO if you don't open your mouth before a project is approved, don't say a peep after. Our little grass roots group in my old town stopped 180 town houses, saved bat habitat, preserved some under ground tunnels they used to use as part of the under ground railroad during slavery all from a grass roots effort. We also made the state back peddle and exposed a great deal for the developer, bad deal for the state taxpayers. That land is back in taxpayer control. I tell my son the first thing he better do when he turns 18 is to register to vote.......he says that is second since now they have to wait until they are 18 to get a drivers license.
